As Summer comes to a close, look out for events that celebrate the damson.
The Worcestershire town of Pershore goes plum crazy throughout August with its annual Plum Festival, culminating on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August with its Festival Day. A little early for most UK damson harvests, the Festival nevertheless usually sneaks in some damson products among the plumper, rounder plum fayre.
The National Trust’s Brockhampton estate near Bromyard again hosts its All Things Damson event from 6th to 21st September – picking, displays, tastings, intermittent orchard tours, and much more.
New this year in and around Ludlow in Shropshire is the two-week Damson Days celebration of the Shropshire Prune variety, between September 25th and October 9th.
